Pool Acid Wash
An acid wash strips a thin layer off your plaster to take the staining with it. That is worth understanding before anyone sells you one, because a pool surface can only take so many. Most plaster has maybe five or six in it over a full lifetime, and after that you are looking at resurfacing.
So we will tell you when yours does not need one. Some staining lifts with a chlorine wash or a stain treatment and leaves the plaster alone. If someone is recommending an acid wash every couple of years, get a second opinion.
The other thing worth knowing here specifically: an acid wash means draining the pool, and our water table is high. An empty shell in wet ground can lift. It is a real risk in this part of Florida and it is why the job needs someone who checks the conditions first rather than just pulling the plug.

The real benefit is not the convenience, it is the scheduling. A variable speed pump on a proper automated schedule runs slow for long hours instead of fast for short ones, which is where the energy saving actually comes from. Automation is what makes that easy enough that people leave it set correctly.
Salt Systems and Saltwater Conversion

Sand Filter Changes
Sand does not wear out from filtering. What happens is that oils and minerals coat the grains until they clump, and water finds a channel straight through instead of working across the whole bed. The pressure reads normal and the filtration quietly stops doing much.
Most sand filters want changing every five to seven years. If your water is dull no matter what the chemistry says, and backwashing does not fix it, the sand is the usual answer.
