A quick way to read your own system: high pressure with good flow usually means the filter is dirty. Low pressure with a full pump basket usually means something is blocking the suction side, and that is a different problem entirely. If you are seeing air bubbles in the pump basket you have a suction leak, and running it that way will eventually cost you the pump seal.

Most heater failures we see down here come back to corrosion. Our water is mineral heavy, so scale builds inside the heat exchanger and the unit starts short cycling or throwing error codes. On coastal pads the salt air goes after the cabinet and the electrical connections from the outside at the same time. A heater that gets flushed and inspected lasts years longer than one that gets ignored until it stops firing.

Worth knowing before you spend money: a motor that hums but will not turn over is often just a start capacitor, and that is a cheap part. If someone quotes you a full motor replacement for a pump that hums, get a second opinion. A grinding or screeching noise is usually bearings, and that one does mean the motor. Water dripping from between the motor and the wet end is the mechanical seal, and running it wet will take the motor out with it.
We check motors, seals, wiring and the moving parts rather than swapping the whole unit by default.
